Biography: Francko Named Dean of UA Graduate School Dr. Judy Bonner, UA provost and executive vice president, has announced the appointment of Dr. David Francko as assistant vice president for academic affairs and dean of the Graduate School at UA, effective Aug. 16. Francko replaces Dr. Ronald Rogers who retired after 30 years at UA. Francko formerly served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Science at Miami University in Ohio. In 16 years at Miami, Francko has been awarded 23 grants and contracts worth more than $3 million. As associate dean, he developed a college grant incentive program to improve external grant acquisition, which increased grant funding by 66 percent. Francko received bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from Kent State University and a doctorate in botany from Michigan State University. He has written five books, more than 50 journal articles and eight chapters and monographs.
