Faced with repeating, entrenched, and complex personal and technically complex events, managers must constantly wrestle with the on-the ground challenges that define their working environment. Critical to the study of management, these challenges are most often likely to emerge in highly resource constrained contexts - there just isn't enough to go around, and managers have to dig deep to solve all of the problems that emerge and reemerge, and that define professional success and failure. Where does the juice to solve these problems come from? Can managers buy their way out of the issues they face by spending the company's money? Is there a magic button hidden under someone's desk somewhere? Is there some sort of all-powerful, all knowing being who can be relied on to make everything right with a quick call? Of course not. The only place that the power to be great comes from - the only place it will ever or could ever come from - is from you, and only you. The magic - the power - comes from you.

Explore the future of HR as Bama at Work sponsors BSHRM's 2018 kickoff luncheon at The Club by bringing Jay Jamrog to speak on The Future of HR: Can HR Be More Agile? HR must move more quickly to respond to the ever-changing needs of the organization We are experiencing unprecedented waves of change, and this will continue into the future. New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman writes in his latest book, "Thank You for Being Late," that we are living in an "age of acceleration," where the pace of change in technology, markets, and nature is doubling every year. Our accepted truths about how society, politics, and business work are no longer relevant or useful-they have become obsolete! Organizations must rethink the ways they operate-from strategy, to values, to operating models, to working with customers, to how work is performed. Thus, HR must rethink the way it operates and how HR work is performed. After an introduction on Financial Wellness by Chance Hallmark of America's First Federal Credit Union in the morning, lunch will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Jay Jamrog kicking off the workshop at noon, which qualifies for 2.75 hours of HR PDCs. ONLY $25 to attend!
